Name: Jahnaya Cosby
Hometown: Montgomery, AL Class year: Sophomore, AS200 Major: Marketing Desired Career Field: Public Affairs (35P) Extracurricular Activities/Sports/Hobbies: Volleyball, Soccer, Volunteer with Women of Excellence, SGA DEI Cabinet, Shopping, Netflix Something unique about myself: I can say the alphabet backwards. Favorite thing about being in AFROTC: My favorite thing about being in AFROTC is the amazing friendships that I have formed this past year. The relationships I have with my wingmen are both beneficial and imperative to my success in this program. Despite the challenges we face, their motivation and guidance keep me going. Most challenging part of being in AFROTC: The most challenging part of AFROTC is the extra time commitments and finding a way to manage that time with your other classes and extracurricular activities. What leadership opportunities have you been given as a cadet in AFROTC? As an incoming sophomore, I was offered the position of being the General Military Course Assistant for the detachment. As the GMCA, I help advise and notify wing staff of the issues and concerns of the GMC cadets as well as inform GMC cadets on any updates or new information. What advice would you give a student thinking about becoming a cadet? Teamwork and taking advantage of every resource and person available to you is key to being successful in this program. Don’t be afraid to fail and ask questions because that is when you learn the most about yourself. Det/CC: Cadet Cosby is setting a great example to other cadets as our GMCA and is a great example of what we’re looking for in an Air or Space Force leader! She has made the selfless decision to serve her country and has been making every effort to achieve that goal, all while maintaining a 4.0 CGPA and scoring “Excellent” in all her physical fitness assessments. Her professionalism and moral character are evident, and I look forward to seeing her commission in the Air Force. Comments are closed.
