Name: Kelsey Halls
Hometown: Lilburn, GA Class year: AS700 Major: Mathematics with minor in Civil Engagement and Leadership Desired Career Field: Force Support Officer Extracurricular Activities/Sports/Hobbies: working out, bartender, and big Bama football fan Something unique about myself: When I was a lifeguard 4 years ago, I handled a severed finger of a child who suck his hand in a water feature Favorite thing about being in AFROTC: Developing relationships with people that will last a lifetime in Big Blue and mentoring future leaders in a way that brings out their own skills vs mirroring my own. Most challenging part of being in AFROTC: It’s a fast pace environment and can get overwhelming if you are the type of person who doesn’t ask for help and practice on your own. Learning to take criticism professionally and not personally is part of the learning curve that will make everyone better in the end. Getting tough skin, resiliency, and overcoming obstacles or adversity is part of the training; as well as understanding there are things that are just out of your control, so you just do what you can. What leadership opportunities have you been given as a cadet in AFROTC? Inspection Officer, Operations Group Deputy Commander, Vice Wing Commander, ECL Director What advice would you give a student thinking about becoming a cadet? Learn how to time manage and have a healthy balance to your social, academic, and ROTC life. Keep in mind that you can’t be in the program with bad grades, but college is also about having some fun here and there. Friendships made in the Detachment can help you get through a tough day and help you progress in your career here. Also learning when to leave everything you have at the door and knowing you that doing your absolute best is all that leadership wants out of you at the end of the day. Det/CC: Cadet Halls will be our latest commissionee! As an Extended Cadet Leader, she has kept up a great attitude and has actively continued to be a mentor and leader to others in the cadet wing. Her resiliency and perseverance is commendable, and I know she will do great things in the Air Force. Congratulations, graduate and lieutenant! Comments are closed.
