Name: Ahmed Alshariki
Hometown: Homewood AL Class year: Rising sophomore Major: Criminal Justice Desired Career Field: OSI Extracurricular Activities/Sports/Hobbies: Alabama Tennis Club, UA Arabic Language and Culture Club, Travel and explore new places. Something unique about myself: I'm bilingual in Arabic and English. Favorite thing about being in AFROTC: Having so many people that are in the same boat as me and working with people from different backgrounds and they always got your back. Most challenging part of being in AFROTC: Time management, AFROTC takes a lot of time on top of being a full-time student, we have to find time to do Colorguard, and flight meetings to prepare for lap and memorize warrior knowledge. All that in the end makes you stronger and more professional. What leadership opportunities have you been given as a cadet in AFROTC? Every week we are assigned different leadership roles to make our leadership stronger and the one that I love the most was flight commander. What advice would you give a student thinking about becoming a cadet? Do your research about the program and ask someone that been through it, this program has so much to offer it is a great opportunity you will grow so much strength and be a better leader if you decide to join do not ever hesitate about asking questions everyone has been through the same situations before so definitely ask your questions from an upperclassman everyone will be there to help you throughout this journey. Earlier this month Cadet Alshariki represented Det 10 during Ops AF at Dyess AFB, TX. Ops AF is a week long event where selected cadets are able to visit an AF base and learn how operations run in a wing, group, and squadron. It is also a great time for them to learn more about the various AFSCs. Cadet Alshariki shared, Ops AF "was the best time of my life, and I represented the University of Alabama and detachment 010 with honor and pride." He also shared some highlights working with the security forces squadron and some C-130 pilots. Thanks for the phots Cadet Alshariki. #RollTide
Name: Brett Stackpole
Hometown: Dow, Illinois Class year: Junior Major: Aerospace Engineering Desired Career Field: Pilot/Combat Rescue Officer Extracurricular Activities/Sports/Hobbies: Aviation, Waterskiing, Hockey Something unique about myself: Almost won the intramural softball championship. Favorite thing about being in AFROTC: The friendships Most challenging part of being in AFROTC: Attention Management What leadership opportunities have you been given as a cadet in AFROTC? I was given the opportunity to lead my own group of 12 students, training and guiding them on their own journey through college and AFROTC. I was also assigned to oversee physical fitness training for all 70 cadets at our detachment for the Spring 22 semester. What advice would you give a student thinking about becoming a cadet? If you are interested in serving your country, living for a purpose greater than yourself, or just pushing yourself towards your maximum potential, I would highly recommend joining AFROTC. On 29 April 2022, Det 10 cadets participated in a friendly run through of their obstacle course. Thanks for the fun day! Big shout out to Maj Herring for participating as well!

We are so proud of all the growth and progress you made in AFROTC and are so excited to see the great work you will do in the Air Force and Space Force. Roll tide and aim high Det 10! On 28 April 2022, Det 10 conducted their Change of Command Ceremony. This time honored military tradition is used to show members their new commander for the following semester. Congratulations Cadet French, the new cadet wing commander for Fall 2022.
Later that day, cadets celebrated with a burger burn and additional awards from the semester. Great job this year cadets! On 21 Apr 22, Det 10 took time to acknowledge the accolades of the cadets throughout the semester. Representatives from other organizations took time to recognize our cadets as well. Thank you to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Scottish Rite association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Daughters of the American Revolution, and others for making the awards ceremony that much more special! #RollTide
